Campsite 179 backs up to the Bay side of the dunes. It is a 30 foot site that features a pull-through driveway and is nicely shaded. As with other campsites on Archer loop, you can’t see the beach but you might be able to hear the waves at night. The driveway takes up a fair amount of the site’s level surface, but it makes pulling in convenient.
Having a camper or RV parked sideways adds to the privacy, or blocks your view of the street, depending on your point of view. The campfire and picnic area are level and there is enough common area behind the location for spreading out a bit and exploring. It’s overall fairly private but does not have enough tree or vegetative growth on the left side to obscure the view of campsite 181, which backs up to 179. Fortunately, there is enough space on the left side to park a large truck to create more privacy if needed.
