Group Camping

First Landing Camping Group Camping A

First Landing State Park Campground has 22 group tent campsites available.  The campsites are located next to one another on the Gosnold loop and definitely have a “community” feel to them.  They are intentionally closer together than other tent sites.  Campers can see and interact with one another from their own sites, while still maintaining a bit of distance.

Group tent campsites are a great way to camp together with your family and/or friends.  It’s a unique option for family reunions, special occasions, scout groups, or just camping with a large group of friends.

Group tent sites can be reserved by calling the First Landing State Park Campground park office.  A minimum of three sites must be reserved.

Group tent sites also have the option of reserving the large sheltered picnic area just above the loop.  The shelter has electricity which is turned off by 10 pm for quiet hours. There are 8 double picnic tables. No extension cords are allowed from the shelter to the campsites.

Each campsite is approximately 20 feet in length, not including surrounding common areas.  The site includes a fire ring and picnic table and up to 6 people are permitted to stay at each site.  It does not include electricity or water, but water stations are usually nearby and located conveniently throughout the tent sites.

Group tent sites are located closer to Shore Drive, so there will be some traffic sounds.  But if you’re camping with a large group of people it will likely not be very quiet anyway.

The group tent sites on surrounding the outside of Gosnold loop have larger common areas.  The group tent sites on the inside island of Gosnold loop are not very private and are closer to Shore Drive.
